This bathroom makeover is the larger version of a smaller bathroom renovation I undertook several months earlier. This bathroom followed a similar upgrade where new tiles were installed, a new vanity and toilet fitted as well as new shower screen and taps.

Scope of Work

The interior painting required the ceiling, walls, architraves, skirting and bathroom door to be painted. There was some minor plaster repair and the existing sliding door was removed and the door opening was framed and plastered.

Colour Scheme

As with the smaller bathroom, the colour chosen again was Dulux Antique White USA to reflect the colour throughout the remainder of the townhouse.

Preparation

  1. Nail holes were filled with timber putty and gaps caulked with no more gaps
  2. All skirting, architraves and door were lightly sanded and washed clean to remove dust and dirt
  3. All new plaster board and plaster repair was sealed and undercoated
  4. Spot priming of new skirting and timber fillers

With this makeover, I again used Dulux Wash’n’Wear 101 paint in a low sheen finish and for the woodwork I used a semi gloss enamel that was the same colour as the walls and ceiling.

Once the application of two top coats to the ceiling, walls and woodwork had finished, the bathroom was ready to be fitted with the vanity, toilet, shower screen and tap fittings.

Below are some pictures of the completed bathroom painting.

As this bathroom was located on the second level, the clients had asked for the stairwell and landing to be repainted as well in the same colour as the bathroom. Due to the tight spaces, there was some minor plaster repair required and two top coats were applied to all ceilings. walls and skirting.

Final Thought

The owners of this townhouse have certainly made an improvement to the use of both bathrooms and laundry. The renovation was split into 2 parts and it is a credit to the them for coordinating the project and planning all materials, tradesman and a lack of work space. A job well done!
